“Let your light shine before men in such a way that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father who is in heaven.” Matthew 5:16

“Faith is not to be lived only in a closet!” That was the response of an unashamed advocate for Truth. He was addressing a moral issue in the halls of his State’s legislative assembly. It was his response to his opponent’s misapplication of Matthew 6:6. The rival’s argument said ‘one’s faith’ has no place in the public square… “even Jesus said it’s best kept in the closet.” Without hesitation, after correcting the misuse of Matthew 6:6, the advocate for righteousness gave numerous quotes from the historical record of our founding fathers. It was evident, without the foundation of Biblical principles, our founding fathers staunchly believed our republic would fail. They were right. History proves them right. Scripture proves them right. Tragically, today’s cultural departure from Biblical values is proving them right.

“You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden; nor does anyone light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on the lampstand, and it gives light to all who are in the house.” Matthew 5:14,15

Believing God’s Word is inerrant, we declare, “Truth is truth. We are to ‘let it shine’ in the pulpit and in the public square.” In the realm of the church and the state, it is to be on public display. To put it under a ‘basket of neglect or fear’, is to allow darkness to prevail. In fact, believers in Christ are to be the light of the WORLD! From your house to the House of God to the School House to the Court House to the State House to the Nation’s House; God’s followers are to shine forth the TRUTH of GOD.

In faith, enter your prayer closet so you will have faith’s courage and wisdom to let righteousness shine in the public square.
