God’s Sovereignty is the greatest Christmas display ever. He rules!
“But when the fullness of the time came, God sent forth His Son, born of a woman, born under the
Law, so that He might redeem those who were under the Law, that we might receive the adoption as
sons.” Galatians 4:4-5
Each year, as I celebrate the Advent Season, I’m greatly encouraged. It’s a witness of God’s sovereignty
on display. A young couple expecting their first child. A young couple obeying a government
order. An Almighty God delivering His Son in the right place at the right time!
“Now in those days a decree went out from Caesar Augustus, that a census be taken of all the inhabited
earth… Joseph also went up from Galilee, from the city of Nazareth, to Judea, to the city of David
which is called Bethlehem, because he was of the house and family of David, in order to register along
with Mary…” Luke 2:1, 4-5a
Christmas… two kingdoms front and center, both ordained by God. According to our Heavenly Father’s
design, both working together to fulfill His plan from eternity. “But as for you, Bethlehem Ephrathah,
too little to be among the clans of Judah, from you One will go forth for Me to be ruler in Israel. His
goings forth are from long ago, from the days of eternity.”
From eternity, God’s sovereignty is our peace. In His right and left kingdoms, the Prince of Peace
rules. Even in the midst of trying times, God’s children should confidently labor, as Joseph and Mary
did in surrendered obedience to His will. “The Lord has established His throne in the heavens, and His
sovereignty rules over all.” Psalm 103:19
